Google Code Jam returns with a cash prize of $15,000, registration is open!

Google’s Code Jam, one of the most challenging programming competitions in the world, has returned and registrations are now open.

Code Jam calls on programmers from around the world to put their coding skills to test by solving multiple rounds of algorithmic puzzles. The contestants compete for online rounds and then the World Finals are held at different locations every year. Code Jam has returned for the 14th year and World Finals will be held at Google’s office in Dublin, Ireland.

Anyone with a passion for coding—from students to professionals, and newbies to pros— can register for the competition online and get the opportunity to win a cash prize of up to $15,000. Last year, Code Jam welcomed 60,000 Code Jammers from more than 130 countries.

Languages

Code Jam allows competitors to use any coding language throughout the competition such as C++, JavaScript, INTERCAL, LOLCODE, Whitespace etc.

Problems

All Code Jam problems are written by Google Engineers. Many of these engineers were actually the contestants in Code Jam competition years ago. They dedicate their time to make every problem rewarding and fun for Code Jammers, from the easiest Qualification Round problem to the most complex challenge in the World Finals. Registration & Schedule

Register before Online Qualification Round that will take place on April 7. The qualifying contestants will compete in next rounds that will lead up to World Finals in August, during which top 25 code jammers will compete with last year’s champions for the cash prize of $15,000.

Presenting you the Samsung Galaxy S8 a month before it launches!

Seems that the upcoming flagship of Samsung, the Samsung Galaxy S8, is pretty much obvious with leaks constantly coming in.

Few days back, the professional tipster Evan Blass, who is known for its credible leaks has come up with an astonishing leak that has put up a vivid image of the upcoming Samsung flagship smartphone right before us.

The leaked image agrees to what we have been hearing and is also inline with what the Samsung teasers have also predicted. As the launching date is getting closer, Samsung released a teaser image and an accompanying video of the Samsung Galaxy S8. Samsung is set to launch the Galaxy S8 on March 29th in New York.

As far as the other specifications of the smartphone is concerned, we have been hearing that the Samsung Galaxy S8 will come in two variants, a regular S8 with a 5.8-inch display and a up-sized S8 Plus with a 6.2-inch display. The smartphone will further have a Snapdragon 835 processor, and 4GB of RAM. The larger variant is expected to have a 3,500 mAh battery while the regular S8 will have a 3,000 mAh.

Facebook will now help you nearby public WiFi networks!

According to a report by VentureBeat, Facebook is rolling out a new Public WiFi finder feature in their app. This feature will allow users to find nearby open WiFi to help conserve their precious mobile data in times of great need.

This news comes amidst the recent drive of Facebook in live videos feature, which consumes a great amount of data. It seems that this feature is intended to help users access features like those while making sure they do not burn through their monthly data plan. While talking to VentureBeat on this new feature, an unnamed Facebook spokesperson said:

“To help people stay connected to the friends and experiences they care about, we are rolling out a new feature that surfaces open Wi-Fi networks associated with nearby places.”

This feature was first spotted in wild by Next Web’s social media director, Matt Navarra, which suggests it is available for some users right now through the iOS app. To see access this feature, scroll through your menu options to find “Enable Find WiFi.” If it’s there, toggle the setting so it’s turned on, and the app will detect places nearby with an access point. It will not only show you the business offering free WiFi, but also how long it’ll take to get there and the network you can connect to. To make sure that you connect with the right network, Facebook will show you the exact name of the network.

Availability

There is no official word available for its global availability. However, considering the apparent maturity of the feature, it won’t be far-fetched to expect it to roll out to all users in coming weeks. We will let you know when it is pushed to users in Pakistan.

Nigeria to buy 10 Super Mushshak aircraft from Pakistan!

An agreement for the sale of 10 Super Mushshak aircraft to the Nigerian Air Force was signed between Pakistan and Nigeria on Friday, Pakistani daily, The Dawn reported.

“The contract signing ceremony was held in Abuja (Nigeria) where Air Vice Marshal Iya Ahmed Abdullahi and Air Marshal Arshad Malik, Chairman of the Pakistan Aeronautical Complex (PAC), signed the contract,” The Dawn quoted PAF spokesman Air Commodore Syed Mohammad Ali as saying. 

The deal involves the PAC supporting operational training and technical support to the Nigerian Air Force. It would also bolster PAC's image in the aviation sector producing the super aircraft and will help generate revenue for the country. 

The Super Mushshak, which is built under license in Pakistan, is already in service with Saudi Arabia, Oman, Iran and South Africa. The deal further strengthens PAC’s status as a world class aviation industry producing the supersonic JF-17 Thunder and Super Mushshak trainer aircraft.

“The Pakistan Air Force would completely establish this facility in the shortest possible time,” PAF spokesman said.

Google drive can now understand natural language!

Are you like most people who save their files and then forget what random string of letters they produced to save it in a hurry? Apparently, this is a big problem with people using Google drive too. Google is introducing an improvement in its search to help such users and others in locating their files more easily. You will now be able to find your files using natural language in your search terms.

What it means that you will be able to type in questions like “find all the presentations about the fiscal year 2017” or “show all files save in the month of January.” Google drive will parse the question and then ask you for confirmation about the interpretation of your search term. If everything seems OK, it will be able to show you relative documents without the need of typing in precise and exact technical terms.

Another way in which Google drive will assist a lost user is through auto corrects in search results. So if you type in a word or two incorrect and meant to write “word files” instead of “wood flies”, Google drive will auto-correct it for you just like regular Google search does.

In addition to these changes, Google docs also gain the ability to split a document into multiple columns. Also, it will be able to auto-save any non-Google file while you are working on it.

All these features are currently in the process of the Global roll-out and should be coming to Pakistani Google drive users within a few days.
